Electronic Communication and Its Trend
QUESTION : The world today is turning more to electronic
communications such as the e-mail, Facebook,
and Short Message System ( SMS ). What is your opinion of this growing trend? Discuss.
Do you know that 23.8 billion people
world wide rely on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Short Message System
( SMS ), email and many more. Amazingly, these people are dare to admit that
they can’t even live without those media. Why is that so? What had brought
the guts in them to say so? Definitely because it must be some reasons behind
this phenomena. It is shown that the social media have contributed
significantly in the field of education, communication as well as in business.
First of all, media such as
Facebook, is one of knowledge sources. Here is a simple example. ‘Doctors
Group’ in Facebook is created and joined by many Facebook users with purpose of
discussing on certain topics about medic. It can be about diseases, modern
treatments or medicine. In such group, each member is free to contribute and
share additional knowledge by posting his or her opinions. The discussion itself,
may consist of question and answer ( Q&A ) session or sharing facts which can be expressed by posting educational articles and essays or
through video clips. Therefore, these media have successfully established
themselves as an effective alternative for learning instead of using books
only.
Unavoidably, people have to stay
away from their homes and families for any purposes such as for studying abroad
or even for working outstation. They use media such as Skype, SMS, or video
conference for long-distance communication. Let’s say a student in Egypt may
use Skype to communicate live with his mother in Malaysia anytime when he needs
a company. A busy VIP or businessman prefers to use video conference rather
than going to the meeting place due to the matter of time and cost. Isn’t that clear
enough to portray how the media are beneficial for communication means?
Absolutely yes.
Malaysians nowadays, due to
compact daily schedule, are more preferred to do online shopping. Hence,
business runners may not want to miss this golden opportunity to widen their
business. Wonder how this may relate with the media? Here is the answer. A
boutique owner, let’s say, uses Facebook to advertise her products. By posting
pictures of items together with their respective prices for customers reference,
this can ease them to make purchases. Not only that, her business’s email is also inserted for any enquiries, orders or
complaints from customers. The buyers also are not an exception. They also need
to have at least one email account to purchase as well as to make payment. From
here, we can conclude that business can be developed more with the help of the
media.
In a new era, people tend to
change their lifestyle to adapt. This also applies to people nowadays where
technologies are learned and mastered in order to ease one’s life. Media have
been proven to be something important in our lives due to how they can be
beneficial to us. Hence, we need to appreciate the media and use them for our
own benefits.

Table above shows the rank of top-ten airlines that was
declared at World Airline Awards on 2007. Included here is also the rank of
those airlines for the previous year award as comparison.
Singapore Airlines was ranked first followed by Thai
Airways and Cathay Pacific. Qatar Airways got the forth rank while Qantas the
fifth. Our local airlines, Malaysia Airlines was in the sixth rank followed by
Air New Zealand. The last three in the ranking were China Airlines, Emirates and
British Airways respectively. Air New Zealand made the most increment; that is
from rank 18 for the year 2006 to rank 7. Other airlines that also show an increment were Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Malaysia
Airlines and China Airlines. Unfortunately, some airlines show a decrement
in ranking like Qantas, Emirates and British Airways. British Airways show the
most decrement that was from rank 1 plunges to rank 10. While others show an increment or decrement, Cathay Pacific kept its third rank constant from
previous year until 2007.
From the data given, we can conclude that there was an
unstable increasement and decreasement in term of rank by those airlines where
some show an obvious increasement and decreasement while the other kept
constant. All airlines must work hard to satisfy their customer's needs.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
QUESTION : In today's world, we have taken the comforts of modern day conveniences for granted. These include electrical appliances and equipments like refrigerators, washing machine, and mobile phone. In your point of view, justify would you or wouldn't you give up all but one of these conveniences.
Being living in this millennium
era, people nowadays become too dependent on modern conveniences such as
electrical appliances and equipments. From the hardest to the simplest tasks
like mopping the floor, machines are being used instead of doing it manually.
It is absolutely impossible to continue the way we live our lives today without
these conveniences. We cannot give up either one of these conveniences as they
have their own specific functions as well as respective prices which can
contribute economically to our country.
We regularly use the washing
machine to wash our clothes or the television to watch our favourite shows.
These indicate that each electrical appliances have their respective function
that is beneficial to our lives. We constantly use these devices to complete
our daily tasks. If you think these current devices can be replaced with a
multi-task machine, you are totally wrong. Can you just imagine how thing is
going to be if that single machine is suddenly broken? Wouldn’t that be a huge
problem? Therefore, it is essential to possess these devices separately as to
maximise their usage on specific tasks.
After all, it is better to have a
variety of devices separately rather than a single device that complement all
the tasks since they surely have distinctive prices. Here is an example. An
electrical iron which we usually use is much cheaper than an LCD television.
For a small-incomer family, I bet they won’t spend a lot on appliances which do
not bring benefits to them. Imagine if the multi-task device is to be sold, it
will surely be expensive and not affordable to all people. Plus, not all of the
functions of that single device are needed for different people with different
lifestyle. A housewife needs a washing machine more than a businessman, who
uses laptop regularly, does. Hence, these electrical appliances have to be sold
separately as to meet ones’ affordances in buying them.
We do realize that there are a
lot of companies that sell different electrical appliances to the people such
as Singer, Panasonic, Dell, Toshiba and a lot more. If we are to compare these
companies selling the same convenience with companies selling different
convenience in a particular country, don’t you think that the higher profit
will go to the companies with variety of devices? This will indirectly
contribute to the nation’s economy as these devices are charged with taxes
which approximately ranged from RM 50 up to RM 200 per devices, depending on
the brand. These companies surely compete with each other to win the people’s
hearts to consume as well as to purchase their products. Thus, this will create
a healthy competition among the companies which eventually bring our national
economy to a higher level.
In the nutshell, we would like to
stress on the fact that all electrical appliances have their own unique
functions and thus, making it impossible for us to choose only one device to
live with. Here is a simple analogy. You have a mum who can do everything for
you and can act like your other family members. Do you prefer to live with her
alone or together with the other members who, of course, are special in their
own ways? Therefore, think wisely before you decide on something so as not to
cry over spilled milk.

Legal Immigration Must be Stopped
Do you know that the total amount
of immigrants in Malaysia now has surprisingly reached about three times the
population in Singapore? Our country is constanly being changed into an
alienated land. Are you willing to risk your country for that? Definitely no. Therefore,
legal immigration must be stopped in order to maximise manpower of Malaysians
as well as to reduce money spent and problems associated with these immigrants.
First of all, the major factor of
a nation’s success lies in the hands of its people. Instead, Malaysia is now
being too dependent on immigrants. We can see nowadays that a lot of Indonesian
employees are being imported especially for construction field. Even though
they are legal immigrants, their presence obviously restrict our manpower to be
maximised. A lot of different fields from babysitters to business owners are
now being dominated by these outsiders. These jobs opportunities should be
offered to our own citizens so as to achieve success purely by Malaysians
themselves.
As a human being, immigrants also
have their rights for basic needs such as shelters, monthly payments and also
health insurance. This will indirectly make a decreament on our nation’s
economical status. For instance, when an immigrant worker involved in an
accident at his workplace, the employer which is usually a Malaysian, has to
pay for his hospital bills as well as his life insurance if the injuries
involve any lost of his physical capability or even that cause him death. Those
money actually can be used for other beneficial
purposes rather than being spent on someone who cannot be sured to stand
and fight for our country.
Like we all know, each citizens of
a country has been taught, whether in school or at home, to love their country
and to have strong spirit of patriotism since childhood. These is also being
instilled among these immigrants. Such norm might put our people in a big risk.
How is that so? When two governments got into some political misunderstandings,
the immigrants of respective countries will defend their homelands by any means
such as riot or dreadful threat. This action is clearly observable when the
Indonesian immigrants shout out “ Crush Malaysia” in October 2009 over a simple
misunderstanding on culture. During this period, our people suffered from a
horrible experience of scaredness and insecurity, which should have been
avoided from the first place.
We do realise that our government
together with all Malaysians are putting our whole hearts and efforts to bring
Malaysia into a fast-developing country by the year 2020, which I believe
excludes the immigrants. Therefore, a paradigm shift is totally needed to establish
the importance of Malaysians, not the immigrants, to make Vission 2020 into a
reality. Once again I would like to highlight the fact that Malaysia does not
need immigrants at all to be developed. Just bear in mind, we are 1Malaysia and
we are one nation.
PRINCESS'S DIARY
Hmmm...here our first task. We were assigned to make a 350 words essay entitled " Legal Immigration Must Be Stopped". like it or not, the assignment must be settled before the dateline...which is just AROUND THE CORNER....!!!
